IN THE SECOND CHAPTER OF “THE ART OF REMEMBERING,” INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS GATHERED IN PARIS FROM JANUARY 2025-JUNE 2025 FOR A 6 MONTH INTERNATIONAL RESIDENCY PROGRAM, POETIC JOURNEY, AND PROCESS-BASED COLLECTIVE EXPERIENCE. IN THIS CHAPTER, 4 ARTISTS JOURNEYED DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE.
THE OPEN CALL POEM AND PROGRAM OVERVIEW
On January 2025 “the rabbit hole” collective presented “the art of remembering” its second global process-based residency program in Paris, France.
STUDIO SESSIONS
Central to the residency were weekly collaborative studio sessions: a labyrinthine logic ran through these sessions—threads of literary references, spiritual practice, and material inquiry. Materials served as both anchors and portals. Water, skin, sugars, and mirrors—each artist’s initial point of departure—evolved beyond their original contexts into more of a shared vocabulary, where each artist’s process and materials informed one another.
THE RABBIT HOLE METHOD™ IN IMAGES
Each artist interrogated the subject of "remembering" immersing in The Rabbit Hole Method™ through 4 workshops designed to inspire and provoke their practices: “Echoes of the Self” a sound vibration experiment; “The Mirror of the Other” inspired by the Buddhist Koan Technique; “A sensorial banquet” employing techniques from Teatro de Los Sentidos; and a Sufi whirling workshop, by Narjès Kel.
THE ART OF DERIVE
From January 2025 - June 2025, the group developed a weekly practice called “the derive". meeting at Pont Marie Bridge each Wednesday at 11am for a 1 hr session of wandering. The derive is a listening technique; a way of wandering, following our feet, tapping into unconscious codes, mystical messages and ways to “remember.”
PARTICIPATING ARTISTS’ STATEMENT ON PROCESS
As the artists journeyed down the rabbit hole, the residency period offered the artists time and space to explore, revisit, reinvent and deconstruct their processes and practices, becoming one with the other and evolving into something again completely new. It was shaped by 6 months of drift, encounter and transformation. At the completion of the six months, each artist formulated a statement about their 6 month process.
