“The Sugar is Dissolving into Us”

Archaeology is a puzzle of what you know or what you have to fill in. What role do memories play in that? It makes the story of the past fluid and always changing. Inspired by her research in archeology, Mayke Verhoeven's work consists of stilled sugar sculptures and photographs that make the fragility of memories and the passing of time tangible. However, they also represent the ephemeral nature of materiality. ‘They say that a mirror never lies, But the reflections within the looking glasses of history warp and multiply. The truth can be shattered into multiple versions; every reflection tells a different story.’

“What Remains Dreamed”

This installation is conceived as a space for slow movement, attentive wandering, and quiet encounter. Rather than offering a fixed narrative, the work invites viewers to drift through memory as one might drift through a landscape—guided by intuition, sensation, and proximity. Remembering here is not an act of retrieval, but of presence.

At the center of the installation is a circle of antique books, each standing upright and opened, resting on pedestals of varying heights. These books function as vessels of memory—containers that once held words, histories, and human thought. Their pages have been carefully carved, creating hollowed forms that cradle natural materials such as snail shells, corn, bones, and beehives. These elements carry their own temporal rhythms and symbolic weight, evoking cycles of growth, decay, and transformation.

“The Tale of 1001 Gazes”

An installation experience that allows viewers to connect with reflections of themselves and “the other,” seeing both as an extension of a universal system, and through geometric revelations, to explore the hidden mysteries and codes that speak the language of the soul, a language of “remembering.”

40 pieces of 9cm x 9cm two way glass mirrored pieces, engraved with handwritten poetic symbols, are hung from above, in the rhythmic pattern of the Fibonacci sequence, inviting viewers into a mystical world of “remembering.”

“Names of Emanation: Composing through Gematria”

Piano installation about the wisdom of Kabbalah and a way of structuring and analyzing the energies of life. In Hebrew, words are also numbers, so each letter not only represents a sound but a number. The art of decoding the numerical vibration of letters is called Gematria.

“The Game of Shifting Mirrors”

An immersive performance structured as a four-part journey through reflection, perception, and relational encounter. The audience are invited one by one to enter into a world of wonder, provoking the awakening of an inner world, where, in the dark, one can see.

In this four-stage ritual, one discovers not merely a performance, but an unfolding of presence, curiosity, and shared seeing. Through the extended temporal space that is created, the audience are participants whose presence and awareness is instrumental in pulling the labyrinth together.

“Tracing the Circle”

Hugo Villard, France

A contemporary interpretation of the Sufi Sama, exploring the relationship between the body, movement, and geometry. Chalk is applied to the dancer’s feet, tracing the pathways of his movements as he turns and circles through space, making visible the geometry generated by the body. The performance is conceived as an experimental research: Do the patterns created through the dancer’s movement echo the geometric structures within the installations? Can the body reveal another form of geometry through its own rhythm, repetition, and motion?
