ARTISTIC STATEMENT ON PROCESS:
“Creating a project that tries to carve into the main question of the program “what if we stop remembering?” was my point of start. I felt that this interrogation that came from somewhere in Paris all the way to Buenos Aires, could push me to take my artistic search deeper.
When in Paris we started wandering in the city without a real purpose, trying to stop all thoughts for an hour and let ourselves be carried by our feet. In this lapse of time that we took every week for some months, I could let myself be. Following my own rhythm, which I understood that I could not call my own anymore. It’s difficult to keep on categorizing things, feelings or thoughts as my own or as other ones after the “derives”. I felt everything could affect me, the sounds of each person’s rhythms, smells, colors, the energy of the city, the Seine river. Each “Derive” was a completely different experience from the last one, but somehow they were all connected.
My project started mutating naturally. The derives, including sharing the experiences with the group, the exhibitions we attended, and the Sufi dance workshop, felt like they were forcing me to ask myself lots of questions. I could not just produce, I wanted to be infected by Paris and the program.”
